Tropical fruit salad with onions

What does tropical means?

The name tropical fruit stands for a fruit produced by a tree native to the tropics. According to the region of the globe between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, and the environmental conditions there are unique, creating a habitat for incredibly diverse animals and plants. Many tropical fruits have been used by humans for centuries, and certain fruits are in high demand all over the world.

Ingredients Used

Take one medium red onion, sliced thinly into rings
1 large, ripe firm mango
2 kiwifruit, peeled and sliced thinly
1 small cucumber, thinly sliced 

Lime dressing with chili

Take one fresh red chili, seeded and chopped finely
2 tablespoons of olive oil 
2 tablespoons lime juice 
1 teaspoon clear honey 
2 tablespoons of freshly chopped cilantro leaves
salt and freshly grounded black pepper 

Making recipe

1  First slice the onion rings in half and place  in a dish. To make chili lime dressing, combine all the dressing ingredients in a screw-top of jar. Shake it well until combine then stir dressing into onion rings. After that marinate for about 30 min.

2  Next step slice the mango flesh, cutting down each side of the stone. Peel off the skin and cut flesh into thin slices.

3  Final step add mango, kiwifruit and cucumbers to marinated onion and dressing. Combine all the ingredients gently to avoid in breaking up the fruit.


Mixing and matching

* If you find the taste of coriander (cilantro) and try using chopped fresh mint.
* Add two plums in large size which is thinly sliced for salad and use two large oranges instead of mango.
